    Gold top (SST) or Light Green top (PST) tube. Also acceptable: Red top (serum), Green top (lithium heparin), Lavender top (EDTA), or Light Blue top (sodium citrate) tube. Mix by inverting tube 8 times.

    Allow serum specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Centrifuge to separate serum or plasma from cells ASAP or within 1 hour of collection. Transfer 2 mL serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube. (Min: 1 mL)
