    Mumps Virus Antibody, IgG
    Rubella Antibody, IgG
    Rubeola Antibody, IgG
    Varicella-Zoster Virus Antibody, IgG
  • Also Known As:
MMR/VZV Antibody Assessment; MMRV Antibodies; MMRV Immune Status Panel; MMRV Immunity Profile
  • Spec Collect:
Gold top (SST) or Red top (serum) tube. Mix by inverting tube 5 times. Also acceptable: Lavender top (EDTA) or Green top (sodium or lithium heparin) tube.
  • Spec Process:
Allow serum specimen to clot completely at room temperature. Centrifuge to separate serum or plasma from cells.
SST: Transport properly centrifuged gel-barrier tube specimens in the original collection tube.
Other collection tubes: Transfer 2 mL serum or plasma to a plastic transport tube. (Min: 1 mL)
  • Spec Store Transport:
    Refrigerated.
  • Spec Stability:
    Refrigerated: 1 week
Frozen: Greater than 1 week (avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles)
  • Spec Reject:
Contaminated, icteric, lipemic, hemolyzed or heat-inactivated specimens.
  • Methodology:
    Immunoassay (IA)
  • Use:
Determination of measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella-zoster immune status.
  • Note:

This test is not intended to be diagnostic for infectious disease and should only be utilized to establish serological status of the patient to Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella-Zoster.

Positive results may be found in patients that have not been immunized. In these cases, the patient has a positive serological status to the infectious agent through natural exposure. False positive results may occur. Repeat testing or testing with a different device may be indicated in some settings, e.g., patients with low likelihood of prior infection or vaccination.
